Houghton Nursery Group is a registered charity and was established in 1966 and transferred to a brand new purpose built facility in the grounds of Houghton Primary School in July 2006. We are Ofsted registered. We provide full day care and out of school care places for up to 26 children in any one session. We are members of the Early Years Alliance and the NDNA (National Day Nurseries Association).

About the role

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a wonderfully supportive team and gain your Level 2 Early Years Practitioner Apprenticeship.
The nursery is situated beside Houghton school and has a busy and thriving environment. They are looking for someone with a genuine passion for working with young children and supporting hem to develop and learn.

General duties to include

  • Daily duties will include:
  • Meeting the children and settling them in to the setting.
  • Promoting play and learning activities.
  • Supporting the health and safety of all children
  • Setting up classroom activities and supporting inclusion
  • Recording the children's progress and development
  • Supporting snack and meal times

Training & Qualification Details

This Level 2 apprenticeship is expected to last a period of between 12 –14 months. You will attend live tutor led sessions 2 days every month (1 day every other week which will either be via ZOOM or in person depending on your location) and participate in online interactive learning via our bespoke innovative platform OLLIE. Your Tutor will also visit you in the workplace for 1-2-1 Tutor sessions during the program. System People have fantastic pass rates and won the “BEST Training Provider Award” at the Golden Apples in 2019 and have been awarded a “Good” rating by Ofsted 2021.

Entry requirements

You will need to have achieved a GCSE grade 4/C (or equivalent) in Maths and English by the end of this program. Therefore, if you do not already hold a grade 4/C in these subjects, you will be required to carry out a short Maths and English Assessment to see if we are able to offer you Functional Skills support to reach a Level 2 (grade C/4 equivalent).
