William Howard School is an academy, situated in the town of Brampton and serving a large catchment area in east Cumbria. It is an innovative and forward-thinking school. About the role

This is a fantastic opportunity to join our hard working and dedicated SEN Team. You will work alongside experienced and knowledgeable staff who have substantiation experience supporting apprentices. We are a large team and support pupils with additional needs from year 7 to year 11 in all areas of the curriculum, if you like a varied job role and are passionate about supporting pupils to achieve and meet their individual targets this is the perfect role for you!

General duties to include

• Daily duties will be varied but will include:
• Meeting pupils and supporting them into school
• Supporting pupils within mainstream classes
• Keeping detailed and up to date records of pupil participation and progress.
• Supporting with any physical or medical needs (after training has been given)
• Supervising students at break and lunch times
• Meeting with parents and outside professionals.

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship we will look at offering the apprentice a position within our team.

Training & Qualification Details

This Level 3 apprenticeship is expected to last a period of between 12 –18 months. You will attend live tutor led sessions 2 days every month (1 day every other week which will either be via ZOOM or in person depending on your location) and participate in online interactive learning via our bespoke innovative platform OLLIE. Your Tutor will also visit you in the workplace for 1-2-1 Tutor sessions during the program. System People have fantastic pass rates and won the “BEST Training Provider Award” at the Golden Apples in 2019 and have been awarded a “Good” rating by Ofsted 2021.

Entry requirements

You will need to have achieved a GCSE grade 4/C (or equivalent) in Maths and English by the end this program, therefore if you do not already hold a grade 4 in these subjects, you will be required to carry out a short Maths and English Assessment to see if we are able to offer you Functional skills support to reach a Level 2 (grade C/4 equivalent) by the end of the program.
