About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for someone to join a mixed year 3/4 class as an Apprentice Teaching Assistant. The position is offered over 32.5 hours a week Monday to Friday and will offer the successful individual the opportunity to develop their experience of working with children.

This is a fast paced and varied role, Yewdale would like someone who has a genuine passion for working with children with additional needs, this will require key skills such as excellent communication skills, patience, problem solving, flexibility and resilience.

Candidates should have grade C/4 or above in maths and English.

General duties to include

  • Supporting pupils with additional needs
  • Keeping records of pupil progress
  • Supporting the pupils emotional and social needs.
  • Supporting pupils over their lunch break
  • getting the classroom ready for lessons.
  • listening to children read, reading to them or telling them stories.
  • helping children who need extra support to complete tasks.
  • helping teachers to plan learning activities and complete records.
  • supporting teachers in managing class behaviour.
Your future career with us

Once you have completed your Level 3 TA apprenticeship you will be a fully qualified Teaching Assistant able to progress your career as a TA. You can go on to specialise further in Special Educational Needs (SEN).

Training & Qualification Details

This Level 3 apprenticeship is expected to last a period of between 12 –18 months. You will attend live tutor led sessions 2 days every month (1 day every other week which will either be via ZOOM or in person depending on your location) and participate in online interactive learning via our bespoke innovative platform OLLIE. Your Tutor will also visit you in the workplace for 1-2-1 Tutor sessions during the program. System People have fantastic pass rates and won the “BEST Training Provider Award” at the Golden Apples in 2019 and have been awarded a “Good” rating by Ofsted 2021.

Entry requirements

You will need to have achieved a GCSE grade 4/C (or equivalent) in Maths and English by the end this program, therefore if you do not already hold a grade 4 in these subjects, you will be required to carry out a short Maths and English Assessment to see if we are able to offer you Functional skills support to reach a Level 2 (grade C/4 equivalent) by the end of the program.
