About the role

This is a unique opportunity to work in a friendly rural school on the outskirts of Penrith in a mixed Nursery/Reception class. The successful candidate will have some key children but will work across the setting as a whole so will gan plenty of exposure to different types of children and learning.

The vacancy is offered on a full time basis with start and finish times between 8.30am and 4pm with a half hour lunch break.

You will work under the direction of 1 class Teacher and a group of other TAs in what is described as "an amazing setting". The staff are fabulous and very used to supporting apprentices within the workplace.

The children in this setting start with the school when they are 2 in the nursery and continue through the setting until they are in Year 1. Behaviour is excellent and the expectation of how well children will progress is high from parents. This is a very welcoming unit. There is plenty of working outdoors and outdoor play.

General duties to include

  • Meeting and greeting the children and supporting them to settle in for the day.
  • Supporting the class teacher to plan and deliver learning and play activities.
  • Looking after the children's health and safety whilst playing outdoors
  • Supporting with snack and meal times
  • Keeping detailed records of children's individual development and achievements.
  • Supporting with intimate care and maintaining the cleanliness and safety of play areas.
  • Assisting the teacher to set up for the following day from 3.15pm to 4pm

This is a great opportunity for you to gain your Level 2 Early Years Practitioner qualification and progress on to Level 3 Educator should you wish following successful completion of level 2.

Training & Qualification Details

This Level 2 apprenticeship is expected to last a period of between 12 –14 months. You will attend live tutor led sessions 2 days every month (1 day every other week which will either be via ZOOM or in person depending on your location) and participate in online interactive learning via our bespoke innovative platform OLLIE. Your Tutor will also visit you in the workplace for 1-2-1 Tutor sessions during the program. System People have fantastic pass rates and won the “BEST Training Provider Award” at the Golden Apples in 2019 and have been awarded a “Good” rating by Ofsted 2021.

Entry requirements

You will need to have achieved a GCSE grade 4/C (or equivalent) in Maths and English by the end of this program. Therefore, if you do not already hold a grade 4/C in these subjects, you will be required to carry out a short Maths and English Assessment to see if we are able to offer you Functional Skills support to reach a Level 2 (grade C/4 equivalent).
