About the role

This is a fantastic opportunity to join the team at Crosscanonby St John's C of E School. We are looking for a new apprentice to work primarily across years 1 and 2, however, you will also have the opportunity to support the staff and pupils across the school, including working with individuals and small groups.

We are looking for a confident and hard working individual who has a minimum of grade 4/C in maths and English. You must be willing to undertake any further training required that will help you to support our pupils.

General duties to include

  • Daily duties will include, but not be limited to:
  • Supporting the class teachers to set up and clear away learning activities.
  • Support whole class teaching.
  • Lead small group sessions.
  • Work on a 1:1 basis with pupils that require additional support.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment for all pupils.
  • Keep detailed records as required.
  • Maintain the ethos of the school and be a positive role model for learning and behaviour.
  • Playground duties.

Upon the successful completion of the Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship, there may be the opportunity to join our team on a permanent basis.

Training & Qualification Details

This Level 3 apprenticeship is expected to last a period of between 12 –18 months. You will attend live tutor led sessions 2 days every month (1 day every other week which will either be via ZOOM or in person depending on your location) and participate in online interactive learning via our bespoke innovative platform OLLIE. Your Tutor will also visit you in the workplace for 1-2-1 Tutor sessions during the program. System People have fantastic pass rates and won the “BEST Training Provider Award” at the Golden Apples in 2019 and have been awarded a “Good” rating by Ofsted 2021.

Entry requirements

You will need to have achieved a GCSE grade 4/C (or equivalent) in Maths and English by the end this program, therefore if you do not already hold a grade 4 in these subjects, you will be required to carry out a short Maths and English Assessment to see if we are able to offer you Functional skills support to reach a Level 2 (grade C/4 equivalent) by the end of the program.
