About the role

St Cuthbert's Primary school are looking for a Early Years Level 2 Apprentice to join the team. The successful candidate will have the pleasure of working in our diverse school helping to ensure that all our children are well cared for and individual needs are met.
You will be working as part of a successful team who have a passion to support each child to learn, develop and be happy in school.
If you are hard working, have a desire to develop new skills and knowledge, are keen to be part of school life this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
We are looking for someone who has excellent communication skills, an outgoing and confident personality and a genuine desire to work with young children in the Early Years setting.
You should have a good level of maths and English, minimum D/3 grade and will be expected to work towards gaining Functional Skills Level 2 in both subjects as part of the apprenticeship. Public transport links are good and there is parking available.

General duties to include

  • Daily duties will include, but not be limited to:
  • Welcoming the children into the setting
  • Setting up learning and play activities both indoors and outdoors
  • Supporting play activities indoors and outdoors
  • Maintaining a safe and healthy learning environment for the children
  • Keeping accurate records as required
  • Undertaking any additional training required
  • Working with children in small groups and a 1:1 basis
  • Supporting children with additional needs
  • Playground and lunch duties

St Cuthbert's has an excellent reputation for supporting apprentices and upon successful completion there may be the opportunity to stay with them to go on to the Level 3 Early Years Practitioner apprenticeship.

Training & Qualification Details

This Level 2 apprenticeship is expected to last a period of between 12 –14 months. You will attend live tutor led sessions 2 days every month (1 day every other week which will either be via ZOOM or in person depending on your location) and participate in online interactive learning via our bespoke innovative platform OLLIE. Your Tutor will also visit you in the workplace for 1-2-1 Tutor sessions during the program. System People have fantastic pass rates and won the “BEST Training Provider Award” at the Golden Apples in 2019 and have been awarded a “Good” rating by Ofsted 2021.

Entry requirements

You will need to have achieved a GCSE grade 4/C (or equivalent) in Maths and English by the end of this program. Therefore, if you do not already hold a grade 4/C in these subjects, you will be required to carry out a short Maths and English Assessment to see if we are able to offer you Functional Skills support to reach a Level 2 (grade C/4 equivalent).
