About the role

We are looking for a friendly, enthusiastic and caring apprentice to work in our school from January 2024. You will mainly be working in our Early Years unit, supporting our Reception and Nursery pupils, alongside our committed teaching and support staff.
You will have the additional opportunity to support the after school club three times a week, working with our after school club leader to deliver an interesting club and childcare to pupils aged from 3 to 11.

General duties to include

  • Duties will include, but not be limited to:
  • Supporting early years pupils with play based learning and development, as well as supporting with personal care and ensuring they are kept safe.
  • Encouraging pupils to interact appropriately with others and engage in activities led by the teacher / teaching assistant
  • Ensuring the supervision of pupils at lunchtimes, in the playground, in the dining hall and when moving between the 2
  • Maintaining the safety, security and emotional welfare of children attending after school club and work with the leader to provide safe, creative, appropriate play and learning opportunities

Upon successful completion of this Level 2 Early Years Practitioner apprenticeship, there may be the opportunity to continue onto the Level 3 Early Years Educator apprenticeship.

Training & Qualification Details

This Level 2 apprenticeship is expected to last a period of between 12 –14 months. You will attend live tutor led sessions 2 days every month (1 day every other week which will either be via ZOOM or in person depending on your location) and participate in online interactive learning via our bespoke innovative platform OLLIE. Your Tutor will also visit you in the workplace for 1-2-1 Tutor sessions during the program. System People have fantastic pass rates and won the “BEST Training Provider Award” at the Golden Apples in 2019 and have been awarded a “Good” rating by Ofsted 2021.

Entry requirements

You will need to have achieved a GCSE grade 4/C (or equivalent) in Maths and English by the end of this program. Therefore, if you do not already hold a grade 4/C in these subjects, you will be required to carry out a short Maths and English Assessment to see if we are able to offer you Functional Skills support to reach a Level 2 (grade C/4 equivalent).
