Little Jems Nursery and Out of School Club was established in 1988. We cater for children from 3 months to 11 years in a safe and homely atmosphere. The Nursery operates from two adjoining terraced houses, which are listed buildings in a quiet cul-de-sac a short walk from Carlisle City Centre.

About the role

Little Jems Nursery are looking to recruit a brand new Early Years apprentice to join their dedicated and successful team, this can be either a Level 2 Early Years Practitioner apprenticeship, or a Level 3 Early Years Educator apprenticeship.
If you have a passion for caring for and supporting the development of young children aged 3 months, this could be the perfect opportunity for you!
The nursery are looking for someone who has a true passion for working with children, has lots of energy and can celebrate the unique way in each child learns and develops.
Essential criteria for this role includes having a good level of maths and English, great communication, a desire to learn and become part of our team and a willingness to be flexible.

General duties to include

  • Little Jems are looking for confident and friendly apprentices with good time keeping and a willingness to learn and commit fully to the job role.
  • You should be able to use own initiative to keep children safe, happy and cared for in our supportive environment.
  • You will assist room leaders to plan and provide a full curriculum within EYFS, stimulate children’s play and support at meal/snack time as well as provide intimate care.
Your future career with us

Upon the successful completion of the Level 2 Early Years Practitioner, there may be the opportunity to begin the Level 3 Early Years Educator apprenticeship.

Training & Qualification Details

This Level 2 apprenticeship is expected to last a period of between 12 –14 months. You will attend live tutor led sessions 2 days every month (1 day every other week which will either be via ZOOM or in person depending on your location) and participate in online interactive learning via our bespoke innovative platform OLLIE. Your Tutor will also visit you in the workplace for 1-2-1 Tutor sessions during the program. System People have fantastic pass rates and won the “BEST Training Provider Award” at the Golden Apples in 2019 and have been awarded a “Good” rating by Ofsted 2021.

Entry requirements

You will need to have achieved a GCSE grade 4/C (or equivalent) in Maths and English by the end of this program. Therefore, if you do not already hold a grade 4/C in these subjects, you will be required to carry out a short Maths and English Assessment to see if we are able to offer you Functional Skills support to reach a Level 2 (grade C/4 equivalent).
