About the role

The Caldew Lea Primary School team are looking for an enthusiastic apprentice to join them to support children in their Early Years provision from September 2024. You will have the opportunity to support whole class teaching as well as work with children with additional needs.
If you have a genuine desire to work with children, are able to build supportive and professional relationships and have a positive character this could be the perfect job role for you!
We are looking for a confident and hard working individual who has a minimum of grade 4/C in maths and English.
You must be willing to undertake any further training required that will help you to support our pupils.

General duties to include

  • Meeting and welcoming our pupils into school
  • Supporting with our breakfast and after school clubs
  • Setting up and providing supervision of play activities
  • Supporting the class teacher with continuous provision both indoors and outdoors
  • Keeping accurate records when required
  • Working with small groups of pupils to enhance learning

Upon the successful completion of the Early Years Practitioner Level 2 there may be the opportunity to progress onto the Early Years Educator Level 3.

Training & Qualification Details

This Level 2 apprenticeship is expected to last a period of between 12 –14 months. You will attend live tutor led sessions 2 days every month (1 day every other week which will be via ZOOM) and participate in online interactive learning via our bespoke innovative platform OLLIE. Your Tutor will also visit you in the workplace for 1-2-1 Tutor sessions during the program. System People have fantastic pass rates and won the “BEST Training Provider Award” at the Golden Apples in 2019 and have been awarded a “Good” rating by Ofsted 2021.

Entry requirements

You will need to have achieved a GCSE grade 4/C (or equivalent) in Maths and English by the end of this programme. Therefore, if you do not already hold a grade 4/C in these subjects, you will be required to carry out a short Maths and English Assessment to see if we are able to offer you Functional Skills support to reach a Level 2 (grade C/4 equivalent).
