We are a small primary school on the edge of Carlisle. About the role

This is a unique opportunity to join the well established team at Petteril Bank School. We are looking for somebody who is highly motivated, enthusiastic and a committed team member who is fully prepared to become involved in the wider life of the school. You will predominantly work in KS1, however will gain experience across the whole school.

You must be supportive, nurturing and understanding with high expectations of learning and behaviour. It would be desirable if you have had experience volunteering in a school previously.

We are looking for someone who is confident, academically strong with a minimum of C/4 grade in maths and English with excellent communication skills. If you are a proactive, enthusiastic individual that is committed to giving our children the very best, apply now!

  • Supporting whole class teaching
  • Supporting and welcoming the children into the setting
  • Recording children's development and achievements in the required format
  • Supporting whole class activities
  • Leading small group and 1:1 activities
  • Lunch and playground duties
  • Maintaining a safe and healthy environment for all of our children.

Training & Qualification Details

This Level 3 apprenticeship is expected to last a period of between 12 –18 months. You will attend live tutor led sessions 2 days every month (1 day every other week which will be via ZOOM) and participate in online interactive learning via our bespoke innovative platform OLLIE. Your Tutor will also visit you in the workplace for 1-2-1 Tutor sessions during the program. System People have fantastic pass rates and won the “BEST Training Provider Award” at the Golden Apples in 2019 and have been awarded a “Good” rating by Ofsted 2021.

Entry requirements

You will need to have achieved a GCSE grade 4/C (or equivalent) in Maths and English by the end this program, therefore if you do not already hold a grade 4 in these subjects, you will be required to carry out a short Maths and English Assessment to see if we are able to offer you Functional skills support to reach a Level 2 (grade C/4 equivalent) by the end of the program.
